Judge Elizabeth Gobeil (J.D.’95) speaks to students in the Sanders Boardroom as part of her time serving as the Hines Jurist in Residence.

While in Athens, Gobeil met with faculty members to learn more about their scholarship and taught a mini-course alongside Appellate Litigation Clinic Director Thomas V. Burch. During the course, titled “Select Topics in Judicature: Persuading the Judge and Jury,” Gobeil provided students with insights into courtroom practices as they examined trial proceedings from jury selection all the way through the appeals process.

Gobeil also took time to help judge the First-Year Appellate Moot Court Competition and lead a coffee break discussion with students on Georgia’s appellate courts.

The Hines Jurist in Residence is supported by The Be Kind Fund, which was established in memory of the late Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harris Hines in 2019.
